Meet The Director, Laura Gallagher Byrne

Laura is the Director of Theatre and Education at The Nantucket Dreamland, and Artistic Director of The Dreamland Stage Company which seeks to bring vibrant, relevant theatre to our schools and community. She is a graduate of Shenandoah University and Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor’s degree in Musical Theater and holds both a Masters in Theatre Education and an MFA in Applied Theatre, both from Emerson College.  

Laura has worked as an actor and director throughout the US, and has participated in both teaching and acting intensives including Shakespeare & Company in the Berkshires, Lincoln Center Theatre Education in New York City, and American Alliance for Theatre in Education. She recently taught her webinar series entitled, “Active Empathy” for The Educational Theatre Association.  Laura served on the panel to rewrite The Massachusetts Frameworks for Theatre, and is a recipient of The 2011 Advocacy for Children Award. She is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, the American Alliance for Theatre in Education, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and TYA USA.   Contact: laura@nantucketdreamland.org

 

Meet Zacil Sassy Nash

Sassy is the Educator Programming Manager with The Nantucket Dreamland Foundation. Originally from Mexico and a US Air Force veteran, Sassy is a storyteller, traveler, and educator. She has taught in numerous educational settings both on and off Nantucket and holds a Masters in Spanish from the University of Central Arkansas and a Masters in Elementary Education from Merrimack College. 

Sassy has worked in theatre productions in Central Arkansas as well as on Nantucket.  She is currently honing her skills in piano, violin, and ukulele and is a great singer in the shower. She enjoys working with young children and hopes to support them as they grow on and off stage. Contact: sassy@nantucketdreamland.org
